He is the first cub to be born at Zoo Atlanta.

Mei Lan left his birth town Atlanta on February 4, 2010. He moved to her parents native country China, to participate in the giant panda breeding program. He lives now at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding.

When he was 19 days old he received his first medical exam and he was determined to be a female.
