Fu Long

Fu Long (male) was born on August 23, 2007 at Tiergarten Schönbrunn.

He has studbook number 685.
His name means “Happy Dragon” in Chinese.

His mother is Yang Yang (514) and his father is Long Hui (526).

The Schönbrunn baby was the second giant panda born in Europe and the first conceived by natural means. The pregnancy lasted 127 days.

Fu Long left his birth town Vienna on November 18, 2009. He moved to his parents native country China, to participate in the giant panda breeding program. He will be living at the Ya’an Bifengxia Base of CCRCGP.

Fu Long’s twin sibling

On the evening of August 23, 2007, a second dead baby was spotted on some of the video images. This panda was apparently stillborn.

He has studbook number 686.
