The history of Tiergarten Schönbrunn goes back to Empress Maria Theresia and her husband Franz Stephan von Lothringen. In the summer of 1752, after a one-year construction period, the animals were brought to the zoo and presented to the public.

Fu Long (male) was born at Tiergarten Schönbrunn on August 23, 2007. He left his birth town Vienna on November 18, 2009. Fu Long moved to his parents native country China, to participate in the giant panda breeding program.
His brother Fu Hu was born exactly 3 years later, on August 23, 2010. He left his birth town Vienna on November 6, 2012.
