Taipei Zoo



In 1914, when Taiwan was still under Japanese sovereignty, Japanese Mr. Oe established a private zoological garden in Yuan-shan. The Japanese Government in Taiwan purchased the property the next year and turned it into a public park. After World War II, Taipei Zoo was formally taken over by the Taipei City. [read more]

On May 3, 2005, the Government of China announced that they would present a couple of giant pandas to Taiwan. They arrived on December 23, 2008 at Taipei Zoo. [read more]
