Kobe Oji Zoo



Kobe Oji Zoo opened in Sunwayama Park in 1928. It reopened at its current location in 1951. The zoo covers an area of more than 80000 square meters and is the home of about 200 species, 1000 animals. Kobe Oji Zoo has 1 giant panda: Tan Tan

Tan Tan came to Kobe on July 16, 2000 with Ko Ko I (Jin Zhu). When Ko Ko I returned to China, Ko Ko II (Long Long) came to the Oji Zoo. He arrived on December 9, 2002 and died on September 9, 2010. [read more]

Panda History



Zhai Zhai (male) & Rong Rong (female) appeared at the opening festivities of Kobe's Portopia in 1981.

Ko Ko I (Jin Zhu - female) lived at the Kobe Oji Zoo from July 16, 2000 until December 5, 2002.

Ko Ko II (Long Long - male) lived at the Kobe Oji Zoo from December 9, 2002 until September 9, 2010.

Cubs were born in 2007 & 2008. [read more]
