CWCA & Tiergarten Schönbrunn have been working together now for almost ten years. Actively working on giant panda conservation and also with the support of financial resources. Therefore an annual conference was started (one year in China and the other year in Austria) discussing issues of conservation, animal husbandry, veterinary care, …

The fifth China-Austria Nature Conservation Management Training was held in June 2012 in China’s Yunnan Province. Tiergarten Schönbrunn / Zoo Vienna’s Chief Veterinarian Mag. Thomas Voracek, Panda curator Dr. Eveline Dungl and longtime WWF employees and leader of the brown bears to resettlement project Norbert Gerstl were allowed to spend more than a week in Xishuangbanna. A total of 30 employees from the Panda Nature Reserves, Zoos and Safari Parks were at the seminar.

After the seminar, the Austrian staff members visited Fu Long, Zoo Vienna’s first panda cub, at the Ya’an Bi Feng Xia Base of CCRCGP. And they have seen that he is doing well. Fu Long weighs now 125 kg and is really getting the looks of his father Long Hui. But if you look well you can also see some comparisations with his mother Yang Yang.
