Taipei Zoo extracted semen from male giant panda Tuan Tuan and found that his sperm count is higher than it was last year. The zoo put together a team of eight experts for this procedure, including Chief Engineer Huang Yan of Wolong’s return to wild program; he will be on hand to assist in the artificial insemination of female Yuan Yuan. In order to increase chances of a pregnancy, giant panda Lu Lu’s semen will also be used. Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan weigh 120 kg and 113 kg, respectively.
