Hua Zui Ba gave birth to a cub at Zoo Madrid on the morning of August 30, 2013 after 131 days of gestation.

Mother and cubs are under constant care om Zoo Madrid’s veterinary staff and two nusery keepers of the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding.

The pink cub “cried loudly” on its arrival. Hua Zui Ba has proven to be an excellent mother again, she took the tiny creature onto her lap within seconds of its birth, licking and protecting it constantly while the veterinary team looked on with emotion.

It is the third time that giant pandas were born at Zoo Madrid after Chu Lin and his sister on September 4, 1982 & Po and De De on September 7, 2010. It is the birth of a single cub in Spain.
