Pambassadors in Chengdu

Today the 12 Pambassadors arrived in Chengdu. This journey has been some adventure for me… In Brussels our flight to Amsterdam was delayed. This delay of one hour, gave some stress, because I arrived at Schiphol only 15 minutes before my plain to Chengdu would take off. [continue reading…]


Welcome Ceremony – Sep 22nd, 2010


This evening a magnificent Welcome Ceremony was held on Paradize Plaza in front of our hotel in Chengdu. All Pambassadors have met their Host Families. The Host Families will be our guides in Chengdu during our Pambassador time in China. The Wang Mei family will be my host family, they are very friendly people. [continue reading…]


First day at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding – Sep 23rd, 2010



Today was our first day at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. Our host families drove us to the Panda Base. At the base, we first walked around some panda exhibits. Becoming Panda Keepers – Sep 24th, 2010


Today we really got to work with the pandas. Yesterday the 12 Pambassadors we were divided into smaller groups, which would make it easier to work. Du Jiang Yan – China Panda Valley – Sep 25th, 2010


Today we visited Du Jiang Yan. In the morning we went to China Panda Valley. On May 29, 2010 the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding started the construction of Chengdu Field Research Center for Giant Pandas, China Panda Valley. Building a climbing structure – Sep 27th, 2010


This morning we cleaned the cages at the No. 2 enclosure. I cleaned the room of Xiong Bang (Japanese name = Yu Hin). His brother Long Bang (Japanese name = Ryu Hin) came to see if I was doing well… When everything was clean, we went outside to provide Xiong Bang some food. [continue reading…]

The Director of the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, Professor Zhang Zhihe, offered me to stay in China. He was very interested in my passion for pandas and the many pictures I have taken of them from around the world. I will be taking many pictures of the giant pandas in Chengdu until October 6.
