His panda story started in the summer of 1987 when two giant pandas visited his home town Antwerp.
The first edition of this website went online on October 15, 2000.
Jeroen became one of the Pambassadors of the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in September 2010.
The giant panda is listed as endangered in the World Conservation Union’s (IUCN’s) Red List of Threatened Animals.
There are about 1600 left in the wild. About 300 giant pandas live in captivity (breeding centers & zoos). At this moment there are 44 giant pandas who live in zoos outside of China. These 44 pandas live in 16 zoos in 11 countries. This website will take you on a tour around the world to visit the captive giant pandas.
