History of Giant Pandas in Sydney

 

Taronga Zoo had 2 giant pandas: Xiao Xiao & Fei Fei

 

In 1988 a couple of giant pandas visited Australia as a major part of a bi-lateral cultural agreement between Australia and the People's Republic of China honouring Australia's Bicentenary. From July 4 until October 1 Xiao Xiao and Fei Fei lived at Taronga Zoo.

 

 

 

 

Xiao Xiao

 

Xiao Xiao (male) was born approximately in 1984. He was captured in May 1985 in Baishuijiang and lived at the Baishuijiang Nature Reserve. After his trip to Australia and New Zealand he returned to Baishuijiang. In 1990 he lived in Chengdu and in 1991 in Wolong. Since September 1994 he lives at Jinan Zoo.

 

 

 

Fei Fei

 

Fei Fei (female) was born approximately in 1984. She was captured in May 1985 in Baishuijiang and lived at the Baishuijiang Nature Reserve. She died on December 26, 1989 in Baishuijiang.
