History of Giant Pandas in Singapore
Singapore Zoo had 2 giant pandas: An An & Xin Xing
From September 19, 1990 until January 11, 1991 Singapore Zoo had 2 giant pandas on loan from China for 100 days.
An An
An An (male) was born approximately in 1986. He was captured in Baoting on October 11, 1986. Since March 11, 1999 he lives at Ocean Park, Hongkong.
Xin Xing
Xin Xing (male) was born approximately in September 1986. He was captured in Baoting in 1987 and transferred to Wolong in 1988. He became the father of 7 pandas. (Long Hui who lives in Vienna and Chuan Chuan who lives in Chiang Mai are his sons) He lives in Yunnan since August 2007.

The Future of giant pandas in Singapore
WRS will receive a breeding pair of giant pandas from the China Wildlife Conservation Association (CWCA). The two pandas, which are scheduled to arrive in Singapore in the second half of 2011, will have a new home at the River Safari, the fourth and latest nature park by WRS. The construction of the River Safari is due to be completed by mid-2011. Visitors will be able to see the pandas when River Safari opens its doors in early 2012.
